They were made in 1963 and with the exception of the Cubs, all come on a round green base. The Black Player Yankee is the second most difficult nodder to find in the entire hobby. The Houston Colt Black Player is the "Holy Grail" of our bobbin head/nodder world. Until just recently, I did not know that there was a variation of this particular Houston Colt head. I did however realize that most of the black players were available in both Type 1, regular face and no eyebrows, and Type 2, serious face with eyebrows. Typically, the smiling Type 1 version is considered the rarer of the two types and I agree with that anology when it comes to the Houston Colt Black face. There are only 6 known examples of the Houston Colt Black Face and I now know where 5 of the 6 are.

Of the 6 total, 3 are indeed the Type 2 serious version and thus far, I possess the only Type 1 smiling Black Player Houston Colt. I have not yet seen the other two, but I'm hoping to before I put a price on that little guy.

He may very well be the one and only of his kind in this type in the entire world. But I'm getting off track here. The Yankees are second only to the Colts when it comes to scarcity of bobbin heads. In Bobbin Head Dolls price guide, Tim Hunter states that he has NEVER seen a mint example of the New York Yankee Black Player Doll. Not sure how many were made in their entirety nor how many, if any, exist in a mint like condition, but this one does!

I'm not going to move these cheaply, as I really don't mind keeping them. They have always been my greatest passion in this hobby. There is nothing that I enjoy more and I'm not even sure why?

At the very end, so long as I was good, and I always was, I was allowed to pick one bobbin head from behind the counter. I simply adored them even then. I'd go clothing shopping everyday if my Mother wanted me to. They shall never leave me and I took great care of them. Except for writing 43 on the back of one of my Phillies, Wes Covington's number, all others are perfectly preserved.

I understand many people will think that I'm extremely high, so be it. I happen to be the only game in town right now. There isn't another place in this world that you'd be able to get one of these. The T206, 1909 Honus Wagner card, which is the "Holy Grail" of baseball cards, has 57 known examples to date.

Yes, you heard me correctly, 3.15 million dollars for a baseball card. Personally, I like the bobbin heads far better, they're simply gorgeous, but extremely fragile! I will allow reasonable and respectable offers after a month, but not before. I don't have another one of these and apparently no one does?

I will list the Type 2 serious face Colt next week, and hopefully the Type 1 smiling Colt the following week. This Yankee will be cheaper then the both of them, fyi.

We have tons of high end pieces that we'll be listing in the near future and this one is certainly no exception. He is simply as nice as you're ever going to find.
